SEVERAL people in my ward have contacted me about a letter they have received promising a no win-no fee service by a firm, Randall and Vickers from Manchester, to appeal about the council tax band in which their property has been placed. The appeal would be undertaken in return for a sizeable share of any savings they achieve.
Your readers should know that they can always appeal easily and for free. Furthermore, there is a risk that any appeal could result in their property being placed in a higher council tax band (and the firm, of course, does not promise to compensate for any such increase).
Those wondering whether to take up the offer should look first at the following link: http://www.theargus.co.uk/news/9402129.Warning_over_council_tax_offer_to_Brighton_and_Hove_residents/
