IT’S been a close shave for Ellie Thompson as she supports a friend with cancer.
The 49-year-old Langford Village, Bicester, resident had her head shaved to raise cash for Maggie’s cancer care centre at Oxford’s Churchill Hospital.
Almost there...
The charitable effort was in support of friend Dorothy Thomas, who is battling breast cancer.
Ms Thompson, who works with Ms Thomas at Langford Village School, said: “We have so far raised £1,800 in two weeks which is quite overwhelming.”
The forest school leader said: “I don’t like the feel of it, it is quite cold, but supporting my friend has been lovely and it has given her a focus as well. It has made something fun out of being unwell.”
Looking good
Maggie’s Oxford offers practical, emotional and social support to people with cancer and their families.
