There were traffic queues of more than two miles on the M40 northbound this morning after a car hit the central reservation.
The accident happened at about 10.30am between Junction 6 at Watlington and the Junction 7 turn to Thame.
Traffic was queuing from Lewknor until the turn-off to Postcombe while the car was recovered.
Thames Valley Police spokewoman Connie Primmer said the accident was "damage only" and that no one had been injured.
