Sir – Twice in a week I’ve had to go to the John Radcliffe Hospital. First with a husband with suspected broken wrist on Tuesday evening. Everything was calm and helpful. OK we had to wait but the children were whisked away to be dealt with elsewhere and our only problem was the children whose parents could not contain them.

Thursday was a repeat visit for husband, great service and care, no broken bones, disappointment from grandchildren who wanted a pink plaster on the old man!

I also brought in an elderly person with an appointment in the falls clinic. Neatly tucked away from the madding crowd, both she and I were delighted with the care and attention she received, a complete MoT.

Even more so the staff in the department, dealing with dementia; they were extraordinary. Cheerful greeting, putting all at ease, even tried to drag me in when I’d been sitting there some time. Oh well there’s hope for me in the future.

A big thank you to all of you.
