YOUNGSTERS blossomed with enthusiasm as they got their hands on some of this year’s bumper cherry crop near Abingdon.
It is expected to be a bumper year for the fruit, with a record-breaking 4,500 tonnes of cherries expected to be picked nationally.
UK sales are expected to top £32m as people across the UK take advantage of the successful crop.
Lawrence Gallon, 13, of Luton, certainly enjoyed cherry-picking in the sunshine at Q Gardens in Steventon on Wednesday.
He said: “It was really good fun, we were there for an hour and picked four boxes full of cherries.
“We gave some away to our friends and now we’ve only got one box left to enjoy ourselves.”
