A cat was shot with an air rifle in Cropredy, police believe.
Thames Valley Police said the animal was injured last Wednesday[August 5] and vets worked to remove a pellet from the cat's body the next day.
Officers believe the injury happened when the animal was on the canal towpath or near the canal.
PC Craig Ridgley, from Banbury police station, said: “We are keen to find out if this is an isolated incident or if this is one in a series.
“If your cat has been injured by an air pellet please get in contact.”
