Firefighters tackled a blaze in Banbury that spread thick black smoke out of the windows of a ground-floor flat.
Fire crews from Banbury, Deddington and Hook Norton were called to the flat in Verney Road at 11.45am yesterday.
A search was carried out by firefighters but no-one was inside the flat at the time of the blaze, which is thought to have started accidentally.
After crews made sure the flat was empty, fans were used to clear the building of smoke.
Station manager David Bray, who attended the incident, said: “Fortunately no one was in the premises at the time of the fire and working smoke alarms were operating when firefighters arrived."
