A mum has been found guilty of murdering Kyle Byfield at her flat in Banbury earlier this year.

Natasha Capell, 26, denied murdering the 23-year-old after stabbing him with a 12-inch kitchen knife at her home in Jubilee Court in April.

But today a jury at Oxford Crown Court returned a unanimous guilty verdict.

Mr Byfield died after he was stabbed in the chest.

He was taken to hospital for treatment but died later that day.

Senior investigating officer, Det Supt Chris Ward, from the Major Crime Unit at Thames Valley Police, said: “Our condolences and thoughts remain with Kyles’s family and friends.

“I would like to thank them for their support throughout this very difficult time.

“This is a tragic case where Kyle’s family and friends have lost the person they loved.

“The events of this night show the dangers of excessive drinking and taking drugs.

“Capell was three times over the legal limit of alcohol for driving at the time of the offence.

“I hope today’s outcome gives Kyle’s family some closure.

“I am grateful to the work of those in Thames Valley Police and the Crown Prosecution Service which has helped in securing this murder conviction.”

Capell is due to be sentenced at the same court tomorrow.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service Thames and Chiltern, said: “Natasha Capell flew into a drunken rage with Kyle Byfield after she had been drinking for many hours.

“The jury rejected her account of events and convicted her of the offence of murder.

“They found that in using a 12 inch kitchen knife to stab him in the chest she intended to cause him really serious harm.

“Nothing can undo the loss that she has caused to Kyle’s family and friends and our thoughts are with them today. “
