SHOPPERS looking for a festive bargain flocked to the opening of Banbury's new Primark store this morning.

Customers queued early to try out the clothing chain at the new Gateway shopping centre, with the store opening its doors at 10am.

It was officially opened by Banbury Town Council deputy leader Gordon Ross who cut a ribbon by the entrance to the store.

Cllr Ross said: "I’m delighted to be here today to help open the new store. It is beautifully laid out and the design has the welfare of both the staff and customers in mind.

"The store will be of huge benefit to the people of Banbury. I wish the store luck and hope it thrives."

Last month the shopping complex, in Acorn Way, had nine new shops opening including flagship store Marks & Spencer, Topshop, EE and Starbucks.
