A woman who hid three stolen gold rings, worth £14,600, in her knickers will not go to prison, a judge said.

Meana Spooner admitted concealing the rings after her ex-husband Steven Spooner stole them from Annoushka jewellers in Bicester Village on September 4.

But at Oxford Crown Court yesterday, Mrs Spooner, 45, of Hazelville Road, Birmingham, who divorced her alcoholic husband two years ago, said she did not know the rings were stolen, and is now trying to get a restraining order against him.

Judge Patrick Eccles did not sentence her yesterday, but adjourned the case until March 10. He said if she had obtained the restraining order he would give her a conditional discharge, and if not he would make a community order.
