A SHOPLIFTER who flew across the world to Bicester Village with the 'sole' mission of stealing has been jailed.
Victor Rodriguez-Hernandez will serve 16 weeks behind bars after ransacking £8,306 worth of items from the designer outlet.
The 27-year-old from Mexico was sentenced at Banbury Magistrates’ Court on Monday, just two days after his theft spree.
He targeted three shops at about 8pm on Saturday and was arrested shortly after, before being charged the next day with three counts of theft by shoplifting and one count of going equipped to steal.
Investigating officer Sergeant Steve Willis, of Bicester town neighbourhood policing team, said: "We believe Rodriguez-Hernandez came to Bicester with the sole intention of carrying out these crimes.
"He had only been in the UK for a matter of days after arriving from Mexico and we welcome the 16 week custodial sentence imposed by the court.
"His arrest followed some excellent work by the Bicester Village security team who managed to identify and apprehend him before the police arrived."
