More than 1,000 discounted bins – offered to mark 10 years of doorstep recycling – were sold by Cherwell District Council in July and August.

The council sold 1,046 blue and brown bins for £10, instead of the usual price of £18 delivered and £15 online.

Lead member for clean and green Nigel Morris said: “The sales of the discounted recycling bins have been astonishing and just prove how dedicated our residents are to making Cherwell a cleaner and greener place to live.”

The discount is available to the end of the month at cherwell.gov.uk or 01295 227003 or from Thorpe Lane depot, Banbury, from 8.45am and 5.15pm Monday to Friday.

  • Recycling teams collected four tonnes of glass at this year’s Fairport’s Cropredy Convention. Cherwell District Council collected the glass from 134 recycling bins around the August 8 to 10 festival, in Cropredy, near Banbury. The festival featured acts including Alice Cooper and 10CC.
