THE Mayor of Didcot cut the ribbon on a highly-anticipated new building in town.
Scott Wilgrove was invited to officially open The Meadows care home’s brand new workshop on Saturday.
After an anonymous donation of £1,500 to the Britwell Road home, managers bought the flat-pack shed from B&Q Abingdon.
Staff from the store took the day off last Wednesday build it.
Seasonal section trading manager Wendy Lay said it took an hour to build and another two hours to paint.
Mrs Lay, 51, a mum-of-two from Witney said: “We like to help the community out as best we can, and they gave us tea and biscuits all day. In fact, they couldn’t give us enough tea and biscuits.”
Care home resident Ray Hunt, 78, a self-confessed “DIY man”, said he could not wait to get into the new workshop and start tinkering.
