Rail passengers suffered delays on trains to and from Didcot Parkway due to a smashed windscreen.
First Great Western said the damage caused congestion resulting in services being delayed or altered.
A First Great Western spokeswoman said: “Something feel off the back of a freight train and it shattered the outer layers of the train.”
She added the incident happened at about 3pm and passengers had to be transferred on to another train, which caused the delay in services.
Services have now returned to normal.
