Passengers can get on board trains from Oxford Parkway from tomorrow morning as part of a dress rehearsal for commuters.

Chiltern Railways will run a normal Sunday timetable at the new station to London Marylebone with the first passenger train leaving the platform at 7.49am.

Hundreds of commuters are expected to use the new station on its official launch morning on Monday but passengers will be able to catch trains from tomorrow.

Senior communications manager at Chiltern Railways Nicola Clark said: "Trains will be running throughout the day tomorrow as part of the final dress rehearsal.

"Passengers can go on them - they will have to pay and we thank them for being part of the testing."

She added customers should not expect the station to be "perfect" but they would be helping with final preparations.

On Monday moring the first official train from Oxford Parkway - the first new station linking a major city to London for more than 100 years - will leave the platform at 7.24am for London Marylebone.

The car park has 850 spaces and an extra 150 bays for bikes while buses will access the site from the nearby Water Eaton park-and-ride.

Work on the line from Oxford Parkway to Oxford station will be completed early next year.
