THE A40 has reopened after a crash that left a motorcyclist with serious leg injuries.

Traffic reports said the crash took place between the B4022 (Witney East, Witney) and Cuckoo Lane (Eynsham).

The A40 was shut in both directions from about 2.30pm but reopened at 5pm.

It is still causing major delays with the A4095 very congested from Bladon to Witney, and the A415 from Hardwick to Witney.

An air ambulance landed at the scene.

Thames Valley Police spokesman Jonathan Chainey said: “TVP were called at 2.20pm to a road traffic collision involving a motorcycle and an Audi car.

“The motorcyclist has some injuries and an ambulance has been called."

Spokeswoman for South Central Ambulance Service Michelle Archer said: “We received a called at 2.23pm to the A40 to a road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcycle.

“We sent an ambulance crew and the Thames Valley air ambulance and a gentlemen in his 30s was assessed and treated.

“He has been taken to the John Radcliffe hospital by land ambulance for further treatment to serious leg injuries.”
