MUSIC, Morris dancers and ale helped make a success of this year’s fundraising Finstock Ale Festival on Saturday.

Now in its third year, the festival managed to raise the final £5,000 needed to complete renovations on the village hall – replacing the previous 1929 building in Well Hill.

People rallied together for the cause whilst enjoying a day of musical entertainment and once again a performance from the Charlbury and Finstock Morris dancers.

Group member of 30 years Peter Smith, pictured front right, said: “It seemed to be going really well, there was a good selection of beers, lots of people and very good bands playing.

“We have performed at the festival before and I should think this time there were about 100 people, but of course it runs throughout the day, so many come and go.

“This was very much for the community in support of the village hall which is half-constructed currently and should be finished with the money raised.”

The theme for the beer festival was ‘All Points West’ with beers and ciders from the west of Finstock. The 22 firkin festival included Loose Cannon’s Bombshell and Filthy Tramp Juice cider from Hertfordshire.

Music acts that took to the stage from 1pm to 11.30pm included 1000 Mile Highway, The Wirebirds with Jenny Haan and Black Max and the Pirates.
