Naivety cost Oxford City a hard-won point against Gloucester on Saturday, according to manager Mike Ford.
“I just thought we were really naive today for the whole game,” said Ford.
“If you’re going to win a game of football, you’ve got to be sensible at times. You’ve got to think your way through it.
“You can applaud them for trying to go on and win it, but by doing that we’ve lost it. We were novices.”
And Ford feels that City missed the experience of important players such as Chris Willmott and Steve Basham, who both missed out due to injury.
“I didn’t have any leaders out there today – we missed Chris Willmott massively.
“Their centre-forward bullied our two centre-halves, but we still shouldn’t have lost.”
