PROMISING talent Alex Rawle finished strongly to claim a place at the Ian Poulter Junior Invitational Tournament.
The 16-year-old won a qualifying event at Prince’s Golf Club in Sandwich, Kent, by three shots.
Rawle, who is a year 11 pupil at Burford School, only started playing just over two years ago and this was the first time he had competed in a junior championship.
He said: “I played OK at the beginning, but when I got to the 15th hole, I got a birdie and from then on I got better and better.”
The victory earned him £400 worth of Ian Poulter kit and a place in the final tournament in July.
The field at Woburn will include the Ryder Cup star and is due to be televised.
