REAL Madrid are coming to Oxford this summer for a series of training camps.

In a first for the UK, coaches from the Spanish giants’ foundation will lead courses for boys and girls of all abilities aged 11-17.

There will be three residential camps at Lady Margaret Hall lasting five nights starting on July 28, where the focus will be on teaching core values such as leadership and respect, alongside football coaching.

At £799 per child, it is not cheap, but Rory Shanks, UK director of the campus experience, insists it offers a unique opportunity.

“It is a high end product, but we’re not just sticking local guys in the kit, these coaches come from Real Madrid and have a lot to offer,” he said.

“The facilities are outstanding and Real Madrid are really excited about this venture, to them Oxford is a big deal and their coaches are really looking forward to coming over.”
