LUCY Gladdy produced the performance of the weekend in taking 8-25 for Tiddington 3rd in Division 9.

But the 15-year-old Oxfordshire ladies leg spinner still ended up on the losing side at home to Bledlow Village 3rd.

Gladdy’s haul saw her finish on top of the Oxford Mail bowling figures for the weekend.

She helped restrict Bledlow to 149 all out, with Will Woodward making 38.

Kieran Wakefield made 42 and captain Martin Blackburn 35 for Tiddington, but they were dismissed for 122 as Rob Scott (3-11) and Andy Wagerfield (3-21) held sway.

Gladdy, who also captains Oxfordshire’s under 15 girls team, is part of the county’s Emerging Players Programme (EPP).

Her dad Paul said: “Lucy started playing at 11.

“I coach at Tiddington and she followed me down and said ‘can I have a go’.

“She picked up another three wickets playing for Oxfordshire the next day.”

Blackburn said: “We have had a couple of girls before, but she is probably the most promising one.

“She is very enthusiastic and works hard at her game.

“She is another player off our production line.”

Bicester & North Oxford 2nd successfuly defended their total of 104 at Oxford Downs 3rd in Division 7.

George Jeacock hit 61 not out for Bicester, while Richard Gauntlett claimed 4-2.

But Downs were then dismissed for 92 as Josh Dewar claimed 3-32.

KINGSTON Bagpuize 3rd have withdrawn from Division 10 after being unable to field sufficient players.

Their record has been expunged.
