NOEL Blatchford and Lyn Ahmet were among the medals when the British Masters Athletic Federation (BMAF) hosted two championships at Horspath.

Abingdon’s Blatchford was the first lady home in the 10,000m walk event.

She clocked 1hr 3mins 31secs for the 25-lap race, which took place in blustery conditions, also taking gold in the vet 65 category.

Radley’s Ahmet won a vet 60 silver medal in the BMAF pentathlon.

Ahmet, 61, recorded three personal bests in her first pentathlon for 11 years.

These came in the shot put with 5.97m, 800m with 3.58.56 and her points total of 2,349 for the five events.

Ahmet also clocked 18.59 for the 80m hurdles, 1.09m for the high jump and 3.47m in the long jump.

Among the men, Abingdon’s Marc Juffkins (V45), Pete Stepney (V50) both finished fifth in their respective BMAF pentathlon competitions.

  • ABINGDON’S Dan Hamilton set a new 5,000m best when finishing fourth in a British Milers Club (BMC) meeting at Eltham.

Hamilton, 21, clocked 15.30.15 to take more than two seconds off his previous mark set just a week before.

  • PAUL Brackett and Tony East were the sixth team home at the Wall Run – an ultra marathon race along the route of Hadrian’s Hall.

The pair, from Blackbird Leys, entered the two-day category, which was split into runs of 32 and 37 miles.

Their time of 12hrs 45mins 39secs was the 31st fastest overall.
