OSMAN Muskwe missed out on a place competing for Great Britain after his passport was not ready in time.
The Radley athlete had hoped to represent Britain in the decathlon at this weekend’s European Cup Combined Events Super League in Tallinn, Estonia.
But the Zimbabwe-born 27-year-old, who won the English title earlier this month, must now wait longer for his international debut.
“My British passport was not ready in time,” said Muskwe.
“It was no one’s fault, the passport just didn’t come in time.”
Muskwe, who is a soldier based at Abingdon’s Dalton Barracks, saw his likely place go to Francis Baker, whom he beat at the English Championships in Bedford.
However, the multi-eventer remains determined he can secure a GB vest.
When I suggested he would get another chance, Muskwe replied: “Yeah, you are right about that.”
Muskwe set a personal best 7,229 points in winning the English title.
He is now looking ahead to the inter-services finals on July 3.
