IF Oxford United’s players thought the first few days of pre-season training were tough, they could be in for a surprise.
And that’s because things are about to be turned up a notch or two over the weekend.
The U’s travel north today for a two-day army camp near Wigan where the squad will undergo a series of vigorous exercises.
While the squad know that it will benefit them long term, there is slight apprehension, according to striker James Constable.
“All the players are working hard, but you know that the season is still six or seven weeks off,” he said.
“And when we found out we had a commando camp, it’s perhaps not something we are looking forward to too much.
“But long-term, it will be good for us and help us get in great shape for the start of the season.”
