Divisions 7-10

EAST & West Hendred’s promotion hopes from Division 7 suffered a setback as they lost by four wickets at home to Kidlington 2nd.

Batting first, Hendred were bowled out for 203, Archie Napper top-scoring with 59.

Kidlington reached 206-6 to seal victory as Graham Eagle hit 56.

Westbury 2nd stayed clear at the top after hosts Uffington 2nd conceded their match, handing Westbury maximum points.

In Division 8, Chipping Norton 2nd closed the gap on leaders Ducklington winning by three wickets at Chesterton 2nd.

Mark Jarvis took 4-32 to help dismiss Chesterton for 118.

Chippy lost wickets regularly in their reply, but edged home at 119-7.

Ducklington’s home clash with Cowley Internationals 2nd was abandoned with the visitors well-placed. Ducklington had been bowled out for 124 as Zakir Bashir took 4-56 and Abdullah Saeed 3-32.

Cowley were 53-1 when the heavens opened.

Broughton & North Newington 2nd maintained their promotion hopes with a 95-run win at Marcham 2nd.

Alex Dawson top-scored with 75 in Broughton’s 222-7, and Marcham were shot out for 127 in their reply.

In Division 9, Witney Swifts 2nd’s victory charge was scuppered by the rain at home to Britwell Salome 2nd. They had scored 203-6, Derek Craig hitting 58, before reducing the visitors to 122-5. However, the rain had the final word.

With Wolvercote 2nd receiving a walkover from Deddington 2nd, it means the Oxford-based club cut Swifts’ lead to 40 points with three games to play.

Minster Lovell 3rd edged a thriller at Dorchester 2nd by two runs.

Dan Spencer (38) and Russell Whitlock (30) led Minster to 182-9, John Pitson taking 6-55.

Mike Ottrey hit 70 in Dorchester’s reply, but they closed just short on 180-5.

In Division 10, Kilkenny’s Kashif Hafeez took 5-15 to help his side to an eight-wicket win at Hanney 2nd.

Hanney were bowled out for 71, before Kilkenny eased to 77-2.
