Divisions 1-3

WESTBURY and Shrivenham remained locked together at the top of Division 1 heading into the final three games of the season, and look set for a title showdown on the last day on September 14.

Westbury cruised to a six-wicket home win over East & West Hendred on Saturday, while Shrivenham thumped Oxenford by 72 runs.

At Westbury, Hendred rattled up a decent total of 214-6 as Jason Briggs scored 55 and Jack Mulford 46.

But a superb unbeaten 98 from Graham Judd led the home side to 215-4.

Shrivenham’s Alex Kill maintained his superb form, scoring 88 in his side’s 269-7 declared.

Conor Taylor weighed in with 52, before Adam Tucker claimed 3-41 as Oxenford were bowled out for 197, Rhys Davies scoring 59.

Jack Simpson scored 101 not out to help Minster Lovell to a 69-run victory at Broughton & North Newington.

Minster posted 249-4, Nathan Harris chipping in with 59.

Eddie Dunn then claimed 4-52 and Harry Ebsworth 3-3 to restrict Broughton to 180-9 in their reply.

Rain ruined the matches between Chadlington and Hook Norton and Charlbury and Garsington.

At Chadlington, Hook Norton scored 198-8, Tom Bartlett hitting 69 and Steve Hunt taking 5-32.

Chadlington were 8-0 when the heavens opened.

Garsington were 190-7 at Charlbury when rain forced an early finish.

Cowley Internationals all but wrapped up the Division 2 title after thrashing visitors Marsh Gibbon by 129 runs.

Qaiser Naveed’s magnificent 114 led Cowley to 210-4 declared, before Umair Ghazali took 5-31 to dismiss Marsh Gibbon for 81.

Great Horwood are still just about in contention after they beat Clifton Hampden by eight wickets.

James Waddington (4-13) and Neil Wilkins (3-32) combined to rip through the visitors for 76.

Stuart Parker then scored 35 not out to lead Horwood to 77-2.

Tetsworth had been bowled out for 176 at Stonesfield, Rommel Foster hitting 84 and Jamie Burns taking 4-22.

Rain then forced the players off.

Chipping Norton’s home clash with Faringdon also fell victim to the weather.

Chippy had been restricted to 109-9, while Faringdon were 46-3 when the rain intervened.

Watlington ran out seven-wicket winners at Winslow Town.

Dave Hansford took 4-38 in Winslow’s 75 all out, before Watlington eased to 76-3.

In Division 3, Mohammed Faruq had a fine day for Radley, leading his side to a 61-run victory at home to Cairns Fudge.

Faruq scored 45 in Radley’s 199 all out, before claiming 5-28, including four wickets in four balls, as Fudge were all out for 138.

Combe stayed in title contention with a 36-run victory at Westcott.

Chris Moore (48) top-scored in Combe’s 205-5, and then Robbie Nicholson took 3-23 as Westcott were bowled out for 169, Dale Sweetman hitting 76.

Witney Swifts’ upwards momentum continued with a seven-wicket win at Britwell Salome.

Max Godwin claimed 4-31 to help dismiss Britwell for 151, before Jason Seacole scored 48 and Kieran Foggett 34 as Swifts reached 152-3.

Wantage’s home clash with Chesterton was abandoned due to rain.

Wantage 8pts, Chesterton 8
