Launton Sports enjoyed an opening-day goal bonanza as they ruthlessly destroyed Oxford Irish in the Oxfordshire Senior League.

The hosts cantered home 12-1, but the pivotal moment came in the tenth minute when Irish’s Liam Hastings was sent off for punching Launton’s Nick Allsworth.

Ten man Irish could not recover from this setback and trailed 7-1 at the break, Kevin Morrisey grabbing their goal.

Sports showed no mercy in front of goal with Ben Dawe (3), Adam Dawe (3), Chris Johnson (2) Nick Neal (2), Jack Meeks (2) and Nick Allsworth all netting.

Chalgrove were hit for six in an entertaining clash by Bletchingdon, which saw the visitors triumph 6-3.

Chalgrove were 2-0 down at one stage, but strikes from Bertie Proctor and Nick Skiller, from the penalty spot, restored parity.

However, a hat-trick from Mark Gaul, a brace from Andy McMahon and one from James Wilkins gave Bletchingdon a convincing win.

James Quainton’s last-minute goal could not take the gloss off a fine afternoon for the visitors.

Adderbury Park came from behind to win a six-goal thriller 4-2 against visitors Garsington.

The hosts went behind, against the run of the play, when Jamie McMahon raced clear before firing past Dodge Carter in the Adderbury goal.

But Garsington’s lead did not last long and, after Mark Essex levelled, Gavin Connor put Adderbury 2-1 ahead.

Garsington equalised bef-ore the break with a terrific shot from Chris Peck.

However, a stunning brace from Junior Howard, including a fine individual strike which began in his own half, won it for Adderbury.

Ben Gray’s second-half close-range strike got Oakley United off to a winning start with a 1-0 success at home to Marston Saints in a tight encounter.

Gray pounced after a Kieron Schimdtt free-kick was spilled and he tapped in the only goal of the game.
