JAMES Roberts scored Oxford United development squad’s first goal in a 3-1 defeat at Bournemouth.
The Championship club raced into a three-goal lead by half-time thanks to Jordan Chiedozie’s double and one from Jayden Stockley.
United, whose new team lost their first match 1-0 at Birmingham City last week, steadied the ship after the break.
Roberts, who was prolific for the youth team last season, pulled a goal back ten minutes from time shortly after coming on as a substitute.
U’s assistant manager Mickey Lewis said: “We know that we are playing against strong teams at this level, but for the second game in a row the boys played well without getting their rewards.
“Bournemouth took their chances, but the second half was more even and it was good to see James get a goal.”
