Dave Kuester won a gold medal in the European Hammer Decathlon Championships at Moorways Stadium, Derby.
The Bicester athlete triumphed in the vet 65 category of the event organised by MMTG, the Midlands (British) Masters Throwers Group.
Kuester finished first in all ten disciplines he competed in to record a personal best total of 4,537 points.

3kg hammer: 33.62m. 4kg: 29.12. 5kg: 24.68. 6kg: 21.57. 7.26kg: 21.15 pb. 7.5kg heavy hammer: 15.01. 9.08kg: 11.30. 10kg: 10.48. 12.5kg: 9.22 pb. 15.88kg: 6.98.
ABINGDON’S Owen Stepney set a 1,500m personal best at the Watford Open.
Stepney won the B race in 4mins 4.34secs to take five seconds off his previous best. Clubmate Dan Hamilton clocked 4.07.55 in the A race.
Vet 50 athlete Pete Stepney (Abingdon) clocked season’s bests of 13.53 for the 100m and 1.01.18 for the 400m.
WOODSTOCK Harriers’ Martin Townsend finished third in the Toad Challenge.
Townsend completed the three-day 90-mile trail race along the Thames from Oxford to Walton in 14hrs 3mins, which also gave him the vet 50 title.
