WHATCOMBE trainer Paul Cole admits he is not sure what is next for Berkshire after victory at Newmarket on Saturday.
The 11-8 joint-favourite left bookmakers slightly underwhelmed despite winning the Juddmonte Royal Lodge Stakes.
His performance at Royal Ascot in the Chesham was so breathtaking that many expected more than his neck victory over Somewhat given his clear superiority over the same rival at Ascot.
Cole said: “It was quite an exciting race.
“He looked a bit green and had not run for a long time.
“It can be quite hard for two-year-olds on their first run back after a long time off.
“I don’t know (where he will run next), it’s a bit early to say.
“He won’t be having a busy time this year, he probably won’t run again.
“He’s a big horse and next year is going to be his year.”
West Ilsley handler Mick Channon doubled up in the final two races at Newmarket with Ayaar (6-1) partnered by Ryan Moore and the Silvestre De Sousa-ridden Amralah (100-30).
- CHIPPING Norton trainer Charlie Longsdon saddled a 13-1 treble at Market Rasen on Saturday.
Little Chip (3-1 fav) and Spirit Of Shankly (5-6 fav), were ridden by Noel Fehily, and Long Lunch (5-6 fav) provided a first winner as a conditional jockey for Charlie Deutsch.
