HENLEY Hawks slipped to 12th in the table after a 32-15 defeat at Coventry.

Injury-hit Hawks were also missing locks Josh McNally and Dave Clements (both unavailable), but back-row forwards Will Woodward and Liam Dwyer filled in well as Henley put the Coventry pack under real pressure.

Prop Chris Locke was driven over from a tenth-minute lineout to give Coventry the lead, full back Cliff Hodgson converting.

Hawks fell further behind to an interception try from wing Mark Kohler, Hodgson converting, but they had lock Scott Morgan yellow-carded.

The visitors turned around 14-8 behind after wing Alan Awcock’s 60-metre run allowed scrum half Luke Carter to score and fly half James Combern added a penalty.

Hodgson slotted two quick penalties, but Henley secured a penalty try, converted by Comben.

Coventry had lock Tom Poole sin-binned on 51 minutes, but replacement Tim Ryan forced his way over and Hodgson converted for 27-15.

The hosts sealed the spoils when wing Will Hurrell beat Henley centre Danny Wells to touch down after the ball was hacked clear.
