HIGHLY-RATED Oxford United women’s goalkeeper Demi Lambourne has been selected for England under 19s for the first time.
The 17-year-old from Bicester is one of only two keepers in the squad, which will meet at St George’s Park in Burton on October 25.
Lambourne, who has been with the U’s for two years, could make her national debut two days later when England take on Norway under 19s.
Richard Blackmore, United’s women’s manager said: “It is a great honour for Demi but also for the club.
“She has worked very hard at her game and done really well and this will be another important step in her development.”
Elsewhere, Josh Shama missed out at the Asian Football Awards.
The U’s midfielder, who turns 20 on Monday, was nominated in the young player of the year category, which was won by West Brom’s Adil Nabi.
