AIDY Boothroyd has warned his Northampton Town side to expect Oxford United to be fired up when they meet tomorrow.

The U’s have struggled for results at the Kassam Stadium, while the Cobblers have shown signs of a revival following a wretched start to the season.

But the visiting boss is playing down the record of their hosts, whose defeat to Southend in the league last Saturday was followed by another in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy against Portsmouth in midweek.

“It’s a dangerous stat for me and I know it will be difficult,” said Boothroyd.

“They will want to put that defeat to Southend last weekend firmly behind them and they will be fired up.

“We’ve played in a way that has got us a couple of results recently and we are getting better all the time.”

Midfielder Ian Morris, who was sent off on his last visit to the U’s with Torquay two seasons ago, admitted the facilities at the Kassam made it attractive for visiting teams.

He said: “Sometimes that can work against you when you’re the home side, you’ve got a nice pitch and nice surroundings and it’s different to somewhere like Accrington, where people don’t like going.

“I’ll be looking forward to going, even if I got sent off the last time I played there.

“The three stands are lovely, the pitch is always nice and we’re going there with plenty of confidence.”
