Didcot Devils Under 13s celebrate after marking their National League debut with a nail-biting 43-40 win over London team Richmond Knights at Didcot Girls School.

The 11-strong squad wore a new kit sponsored by Milton Park-based Kaspersky Labs, and fielded three new players, William Sheehan, Ben McNally, who have joined from Oxford Brookes, and Louie Grindey.

At the end of the first quarter, Devils, the first Oxfordshire side to play at this level, trailed 10-5.

Devils finally edged ahead in the fourth quarter using rebounds and fast breaks.

Their top scorers were Ben Smith with 18 points, Jack Thomas (11) and Sheehan (7).

This result extended Devils’ run of success following their 11 straight wins at the end of last season.

The team’s next home game is against Stevenage Scorpions tomorrow (1pm).
