Banbury United are set to give a debut to Wycombe keeper Dean Thornton when they host Wealdstone in tomorrow's British Gas Business Southern League Premier Division.

Thornton, 19, the Chairboys' third choice, has been signed from the Nationwide League 2 club to enable Banbury's former Oxford United star Alan Judge to have a break.

Brock has no qualms about pitching the youngster in against Wealdstone who boast ex-Banbury United striker Matty Gooderick in their line-up.

"Judgey is 47 and he's feeling the pace a bit," said Brock.

"He's also busy with his driving school. We signed Dean for a month to start with.

"He's Wycombe's third-choice keeper and he's not getting a look in.

"He's someone I know quite well. He went to school with my eldest son, George, and they played local football in Banbury and Brackley, before Dean moved onto bigger things.

"Although he's only young I think he will do a good job for us."

Another player Brock knows well is Gooderick who scored 100 goals in his six seasons at Spencer Stadium.

He joined Wealdstone to be nearer London where he lives and works.

"I think he will get a very good reception. He did an excellent job for us. He got 40-odd goals for us when we came up from the Hellenic League.

"And we stayed up the next season because of his goals. "Then he had the injury (double leg fracture) and was out for two years. But he showed his character by getting back playing again."

Banbury, who have lost their last three league games, making it their worst run for two years, have a doubt over defender Matty Hayward (pictured), who is struggling with a knee injury.

Didcot Town welcome back Ryan Brooks for their trip to Division 1 South & West basement boys Beaconsfield SYCOB looking to end a run of three draws.

He was cup-tied for Tuesday's Errea Cup game at Gloucester City which was called off just ten minutes before kick-off due to thick fog.

Boss Stuart Peace said the draws were six lost points. "We were in control for most of those games and then we let other teams back in. A clean sheet would be nice."

Oxford City give late fitness tests to Adam Durrant (calf strain) and Alex Stewart (Achilles tendon) ahead of the home game against Winchester City.

City are already without Omar Takriti and Ray Spence (both suspended).

Abingdon United, who are without a game, are still waiting to hear from league chiefs whether the result of their home game against Swindon Supermarine will be allowed to stand.

Abingdon were 3-0 up when the floodlights failed in injury time. The issue was due to be discussed at a league meeting on Wednesday.
