Headington Roadrunners' Steve Kimber retained his senior and overall men's titles in atrocious conditions in the final round at Drayton School, Banbury.

Kimber, who had withdrawn from the previous round with a calf injury, went head-to-head with clubmate Chris Riley for the title in heavy rain and gale-force winds.

But he made light work of a quagmire of a course, securing a convincing victory to wrap up back-to-back titles.

Kimber has dominated the league for two seasons now, and powered across the line almost 20 seconds in front of Riley, clocking 34mins 7secs.

With Riley finishing runner-up, it also helped Headington's A team to a comprehensive victory in Division 1, retaining their title with a points margin of 81.

However, this was a far closer contest than last season's, with Cirencester giving Headington a run for their money.

Pancho Gonzales-Diaz finished third to spearhead a strong challenge from the Gloucestershire club, while under 20 runner Chris Illman came seventh.

Ed Womersley (St Edward's School, Oxford) was crowned under 20 men's champion, his sixth-place ensuring he finished nine points clear of Illman.

In the other men's categories, Team Kennet's Tom Munt came ninth in 36.06 to seal the vet 40 title, while Hook Norton's Rick Hailey claimed the vet 50 crown after finishing 13th.

There was also joy for host club Banbury Harriers with Geoff Smith landing the vet 60 title.

The overall women's title once again went to Cirencester's Wendy Jones.

She has dominated the league in the last two seasons, and cruised to a resounding victory in worsening condItions.

Jones dipped under the 20- minute mark to won in 19.57, with White Horse Harriers' Frances Briscoe finishing second.

Witney Roadrunner Nicola Gomm secured second spot in the vet 35 section, finishing sixth at Banbury in 21.58.

Ellen Leggate (Cirencester) won the senior women's title, despite a non-appearance at Banbury.

Oxford City's Gwyneth Hueter retained her vet 45 crown, with Witney Roadrunner Sally Pitts third after finishing 27th.

The vet 55 women's section was won by Cirencester's Carol Clarke.

Oxford City once again dominated the junior events with individual titles in the under 11 and under 15 section.

The under 11 boys' title went to Oxford City's Mattieu Marshall, with clubmate Josh Tack finishing second.

In the under 11 girls' section, City athletes filled the top five places, with Beth Hawtin taking first prize, Imogen van-Zyl second and Sara Elkirate third.

City's Danielle Anderson won the under 15 girls' title, with clubmate Amy Chivers second.

Team Kennet's Michael Randall landed the under 13 boys' trophy, while Banbury Harriers' Connie MacMillan won the under 13 girls' competition.

In the under 15 boys' section, Radley's Philippe Manning added the Oxford Mail League title to his Chiltern League crown.

Manning displayed his consistency by finished sixth in the combined under 15/17 race at Banbury, and was first under 15 across the line in 20.08.

The under 13 boys' team title went to Team Kennet, who finished 21 points in front of Oxford City.

City's dominance of the combined under 13/15 girls' competition saw them romp to victory by more than 100 points, while Radley A edged out a strong challenge from St Edward's School for the combined under 15/17 boys' contest.
