OXFORD United loanee George Baldock will not be sold by parent club MK Dons during the January transfer window, says boss Karl Robinson.

The 22-year-old is on a season-long loan with the U’s and has starred with a number of very strong performances.

His form has been so impressive there have been concerns the right back could be recalled, or sold, with the Dons struggling in the Sky Bet Championship.

Last week Baldock spoke of how much he was enjoying the spell at United and said the key for their chances of success rested on keeping the squad together.

Robinson has been thrilled with the loanee’s progress He told the Milton Keynes Citizen: “George is showing everyone he’s one of the best full backs outside the Championship.

“He’s the best in League 2.

“What happens to him now will remain between the two boards, myself and Michael Appleton, but he’s definitely not being sold.”

Remarkably Baldock, who began as a central midfielder, is seen as MK Dons’ third choice right back, behind Lee Hodson and Jordan Spence.

“I think Jordan has been outstanding this season, but if George and Lee are playing well, it brings out another 10 per cent in Jordan Spence,” Robinson said.

“We don’t pigeon hole players here, and we’ve done it differently with all these players.

He added: “It’s about development, and George is flying at the moment.”
