WITNEY United have completed the signing of Abingdon United defender Daniel Meade.

Meade, who is 18-years-old, was considered by many to be unlucky when he was released by Oxford United in the summer.

He joined Abingdon along with Andrew Younie, who has also moved to Witney.

Witney boss Andy Lyne said: "We are delighted to get Daniel on board.

"He is a very talented and versatile player.

"Fitness and athleticism are very much essential requirements of the modern day footballer and Daniel is very much in this mode.

"As well as having a good engine, he also has good technique, and passing ability."

Meade is set to make his debut at Abingdon Town in the Sport italia Hellenic League on Saturday.

Striker Chris Harper has left the club to join Brackley, while leading scorer Gary Wickens is ruled out through suspension and Chris Johnson (ankle) is sidelined.

Abingdon will give fitness tests to midfielders Danny Morgan, Danny Thomas and Alex Mott.

Clanfield welcome back Pete Osborne and Alan Rogers for their trip to Oxford City Nomads in Division 1 West.

However, James Brighton (knee), Reece Winney (hamstring) and Gary Morrison (ankle) are ruled out.

Headington Amateurs replay their Oxfordshire Senior Cup first round tie at Chadlington.

The scores were level at 1-1 when the match was abandoned due to bad light.

Robert Parsons misses out through injury, while skipper Nick Bayliss is unavailable.

Chris Baker returns from suspension, while Jamie Murray, Luke Cuff and Sean Pearce are added to the squad.

Kidlington's Nathan Meade - an international with St Kitts and Nevis - misses tomorrow's trip to Englefield Green Rovers in the first round of the SBJ Sports Insurance Cup.

Instead, he joins his international teammates in Durban, South Africa for the draw for the 2010 World Cup qualifying campaign.

Paul Lee also looks set to be without leading goalscorer Jimmy Deabill, who suffered ankle ligament damage during Tuesday evening's 2-1 victory at Fairford.

Added to this, Tai Hulbert-Thomas and captain James Philpott also picked up injuries in midweek and are also doubtful.

Darren Clare, Emmett McGovern, Steve Litten and Piers McGlynn are out with long-term injuries, but Darren Moore and Adrian Jack return.
