EDDIE Pepperell will look to build on an impressive September when he tees off at St Andrews this morning.

The Abingdon golfer gets his Alfred Dunhill Links Championship underway at 11.01am.

He earned his sixth top-20 finish in just two months, at the DS Automobiles Italian Open on September 18.

Pepperell carded a three-under par final round at the Italian Open, moving him to six-under for the tournament.

It saw Pepperell finish in a tie for 12th at Marco Simone GC, Rome, eight shots shy of winner Robert Macintyre.

Earlier in the month, he ended a BMW PGA Championship overshadowed by the Queen’s death nine-under.

The tournament was suspended on the Thursday following the monarch’s passing, with play resuming on Saturday.

At Made in HimmerLand, Denmark, Pepperell tied for 18th.

He ended on 12-under par – nine shots behind tournament winner Oliver Wilson.

Play at St Andrews, acknowledged as the ‘Home of Golf’, gets underway at 9am this morning, with the championship running until October 2.
