EDDIE Pepperell finished the first day of the British Masters on par.

The Frilford Heath member, who won the tournament in 2018 and finished tied for second the following year, holed two birdies and a couple of bogeys during his opening round.

Pepperell managed his birdies on the third and sixth holes, as he made a promising start.

The two bogeys then followed on the 13th and 16th holes, leaving the 32-year-old on par on day one.

Pepperell tees off his second round at 12.50pm today, alongside fellow Englishman Matthew Jordan and the Japanese player Rikuya Hoshino.

Pepperell came into the British Masters off the back of a mixed set of results this year, putting in a strong showing at the Scandinavian Mixed to claim 12th earlier this month, before only making the halfway point at the BMW International Open in Munich at his most recent tournament.
