THE former chairman of Frilford Heath Golf Club has been nominated as president-elect of England Golf.

Alistair Booth, who is also a former president and current chairman of Berks Bucks & Oxon Golf, has been named as England Golf’s president-elect for 2024, with a view to becoming president in April 2025.

Booth has been part of the England Golf board since 2018.

In 2008, he joined the board of Frilford Heath, where he has been a member since 1994.

Booth went on to become executive director in 2010 and then chairman in 2016, before retiring last year.

He told the England Golf website: “It is an honour and a privilege to be nominated as president-elect and I would like to thank the past presidents for proposing me, and the board of England Golf for their support.”

In 2021, Booth was invited onto the board of Woodhall Spa Golf Club, and was part of a clubhouse redevelopment working group.

He has also been involved in two building projects at Frilford Heath.

Booth is also independent chair of the Greenkeepers Training Committee, and a trustee and board member of the England Golf Trust.

In the past, he has chaired England Golf’s managers’ advisory group and currently sits on the audit and finance committee.

England Golf is the governing body for amateur golf in England.
