Oxford Hawks Ladies kicked off the second half of the season with a hard-fought 4-3 win at home to Wimbledon in Division 1 of the South Clubs Women's League.

Wimbledon took a seventh-minute lead but Hawks responded positively with Helen Smith converting to level from Hannah Williamson’s drive.

Early in the second half Wimbledon fortuitously went in front again when a shot going wide deflected in off a defender’s foot.

A minute later, Hawks broke on the counter attack and the outstanding Kelly Fogden slotted home.

With confidence flowing, Hawks then scored twice in ten minutes.

Kelly Scott hit an unstopp-able strike from the top of the D and Amy Bryant converted another penalty corner to make it 4-2.

Hawks goalkeeper Evelyn Hargraves saved a penalty flick but the visitors did convert a late penalty corner.

In Division 2, Oxford University won 2-1 at bottom club Wanderers.

Division 3A leaders City of Oxford were held 2-2 at home by West Witney.

Lisa Scragg’s shot was deflected in by Tam Curnow to put City in front but Sadie Lapper equalised for West Witney from a penalty flick.

A good shot by Lucy Carp restored City’s lead, but with six minutes to go, Sunny Ricketts levelled it up again for Witney.

Oxford Hawks 2nd drew 1-1 with Wycombe Rye, Heather Miller getting their goal, and lost 3-1 to Teddington in a replayed league game on Sunday, with Tori Clark on target.

Banbury got back to winning ways with a 3-0 victory at Bracknell.

Vicky Page set them on their way and another diving goal from captain Ali Sturla put them 2-0 ahead.

With Charlotte Pile distribut-ing the ball well, Page got her second with a follow-up shot off the keeper’s pads.
