Aston Rowant cruised into the Oxfordshire semi-finals of the npower Village Cup after an eight-wicket win over Great & Little Tew.

Batting first, Tew struggled to get to grips with a tight bowling performance, with Tom Foster taking 5-38 and Tim Morgan 2-35.

Tew managed to score 167-8 from their 40 overs, Tom Geeson-Brown top-scoring with 45 and Dave Powles chipping in with 42.

In reply, Rowant lost Paul Plumridge early on, but with Alex Jewell hitting 71 and Tim Morgan 59 not out, they cruised home with more than five overs to spare.

Oxford Downs, who were handed a walkover by Shipton-under-Wychwood, will host Rowant in Sunday’s semi-final.

Hanborough also crashed out as they fell to a 79-run defeat at home to Horspath, who now entertain Cumnor in the last four.

Dean Creed hit 83 and Robbie Eason 57 as Horspath rattled up a formidable 248-5 from their 40 overs.

Hanborough were never really in the hunt, and despite Matt Busby hitting 63, they were bowled out for 169, with Dean Creed taking 3-29.

Freeland were comprehensively beaten by Cumnor by 87 runs.

Batting first, Cumnor posted 250-6, with James Neilson hitting 73, Ali Morteza 51 and Shahbaz Alam 42.

In reply, Freeland were bowled out for 163, despite 40 from Jamie Leach, 31 from David Ackland and 28 from Richard Howe.
