Former Chinnor flanker David Seymour has joined Sale Sharks after being released by fellow Guinness Premiership club Saracens.

Seymour, 24, came through the ranks at Chinnor, where his two brothers still play, before signing for Sarries in 2004.

He went on to make 105 appearances and represent edEngland at under 21 and A level, as well as in sevens – winning a Commonwealth Games silver medal in 2006.

Sale director of rugby Kingsley Jones said: “David is a good signing for us, he has a high work rate and plenty of pace.

“He has come through the system at Saracens and when I found out he was available, I made my move to sign him.”

l CHRIS Davies has joined Henley Hawks as their new assistant coach.

Davies replaces Dai Fussell, who stepped down due to work commitments, and is also a coach at Hartpury College.

He will work with head coach Jason Forster, with major responsibility for attacking and back play.

l OXFORD Harlequins begin pre-season training tomorrow as they prepare for the new National 3 South West division.

Training starts at 7pm at the Southern Bypass ground.

Players old and new should contact director of coaching John Brodley on 07771 766 390 or at the ground on any Tuesday or Thursday afterwards.

Quins will run three other senior sides as well.

l WITNEY RFC have received £2,000 to support their training and coaching scheme for west Oxordshire schools.

Witney Lions donated the cash, confirming their support for the TRY (Training Rugby’s Youth) scheme in 2009-10.

That will be the sixth year TRY, which is also sponsored by BRITA Water Filter Systems, has operated with primary and secondary Schools in west Oxfordshire .

Witney Lions president, Tony Waddington, presented the cheque to Witney RFC chairman Danny Crump.

l CHINNOR captain Matt Hutchings is again running a ‘rugby is fun’ camp.

The event for five to 12-year-olds lasts from July 20-23 at Chinnor’s Kingsey Road base on the outskirts of Thame.

Costs are £20 per day (£25 non members) or £50 for four days (£55 non members).
