Jason Weller clanged off 15 dolls – including a double sixer – for the George as they beat Garsington Sports 2-1 in the Premier Section of the Greene King Oxford & District League.

George took the opening two legs 29-25, 20-19 with Garsington grabbing a point in the final leg 26-25.

Teammate Steve Walton (3-5-5) bagged 13 dolls, while Steve Greenough and Garry Smith hit 12 dolls each for Garsington Sports.

Leaders The Cricketers beat closest rivals Six Bells 3-0, but the game was much closer than the score suggests.

Cricketers set 29 in the opening leg. Six Bells left anchor man Fred Sawyer six to draw the leg, which just proved too much as he fell one short with a five.

Six Bells set 27 in the next leg, but Cricketers were on fire and with a six from Ivor Clarke and Philip Adams they cruised past with a score of 34.

Six Bells could only muster up a set of 20 in the final leg, but Cricketers struggled early on and anchor man Den Sellar was left four to win, which he achieved with his last stick.

Sawyer (5-5-4) top scored with 14 dolls.

The first two legs went to three stick shoot-outs before New Club ran out 2-1 winners over Black Swan.

Black Swan anchor man Dave Green whipped off the three dolls needed to tie the first leg 21-21, before they went on to win the leg on three sticks.

Black Swan set 22 in the next leg, and this time it was New Club’s anchor man, Dave Prosser, who hit five to tie it, before they then went on to take it on three sticks.

New Club took the decider 25-19, with Prosser (4-5-4) notching a baker’s dozen.

Ray Townsend (5-4-4) smashed off 13 dolls for the Dogwood as they beat Turners Arms 2-1 in Section 2. Teammate Paul Holt chipped in with 12 dolls.

Pete Kennett and Mick Jones hit a six apiece as the Chequers B maintained their unbeaten record with a 3-0 win at home to George B.

In Section 3, Gardiner Arms’ David Leopold (5-5-4) smashed off 14 dolls in their 2-1 win against Donnington Club A.

THE Bull Great Milton will play all their Section 5 home games at the King & Queen at Wheatley.
