Doing a bit of a session at Linears’ St John’s Lake, Acorn Angling’s Darren Cornish got his net under a magnficent small plated mirror carp, weighing in at a hefty 39lb 10oz, writes ANDY WEBBER.

Darren used 15lb X line and 15lb super natural hook link tied to a size 6 ESP hook.

He used Acorn’s own boilies to catch the fish.

There are still loads of fish being caught from the lakes on the Linear complex.

And despite the recent heavy rain, the fishing should carry on for some time yet.

l THE Environment Agency have surveyed several stretches of the Thames recently and a large number of very big fish have been spotted.

The reason for this increase in size are low flows, warm water temperatures and an abundance of food.

In the press release that I have seen, Port Meadow got a good mention.

It was suggested that it is worth fishing for good-sized perch, quality chub and large bags of bream.

Other rivers mentioned were the Evenlode, Thame, Windrush and Cherwell.

But what about all the stretches of the Thames and other rivers that did not get a mention?

Are the Environment Agency going to look at The Channel, Folly, Donnington and Kennington among others, because none of these waters seemed to get a mention.
