Oxford City finished a creditable seventh out of 32 teams as they hosted the first round of the 2009-10 Chiltern League at Shotover Park.

The combined men’s and women’s teams scored 1,767 points, beating their City rivals, Headington Roadrunners, who were ninth with 1,659.

City’s senior ladies, who fielded a full side for the first time in many years, were fourth.

They were led home by Sarah Davies in 21st.

In the junior section, Melissa Hawtin led City’s team to fourth, crossing the line fourth in her race.

Jade Walker was 15th and Ellie Burns 24th.

The under 15 girls were third. Imogen Kempton finished second and was well-supported by Lauren Hawtin (10th), Elissa Clarke (18th), Rebecca Byren (19th) and Imogen van Zyl (30th).

City’s under 13 girls were eighth, Storm Sunderland leading them home in 13th.

Nat Jones was their sole runner in the under 13 boys’ race, finishing 16th.

The under 15 boys’ team were tenth, led in by Matthieu Marshall in 19th place.

In the under 17 boys’ race, Harry Robertson was sixth to lead his team to ninth position.
