Woodstock Harriers marathon man Paul Brackett was delighted to put his feet up for a well-deserved break after he took part in the arduous Druid Ridgeway three-day Ultra Marathon.
Brackett took part in the challenge – a combination of three multi-terrain marathons – from Ivinghoe Beacon, Bucks to Avebury in Wiltshire.
The first leg, on Friday, saw him cross the line in 20th over 28 miles in 5hrs 08mins 19secs.
On day two, he clocked 5.24.10 over a 27-mile stage, dropping down to 35th.
But he produced another strong performance on the third day, moving up to a finishing position of 30th, crossing the line over another 27 miles in 5.20.00.
Brackett, who has specialised in running ultra-marathons throughout 2009, said that this particular challenge was one of the toughest yet.
He said: “I was absolutely exhausted after the third race, but I was really pleased to finish where I did, it was a really tough course.”
