Oxford City Blues hit top form in their Midland League double-header in the Youth Conference Alliance – beating Ipswich 6-1 and then Wycombe Wanderers 9-3.

It took them 39 minutes to get off the mark against Ipswich, Pablo Haysham putting them in front.

Luke Carnell doubled the lead four minutes after the break, and Callum Mackinnon soon hit No 3.

Although Ipswich reduced the arrears, further strikes from Carnell, Nathan Hallam and Chris Brougham sealed victory.

It was a very different story against Wycombe, with Mackinnon firing Oxford ahead after just two minutes.

When Ashley Jones doubled the lead soon after, the result was never in doubt.

Haysham hit No 3, and Mackinnon made it 4-0 with just 20 minutes gone.

Chris Brougham’s strike a minute before half-time sent Oxford into the break on a real high.

Jones scored his second to make it 6-0.

However, Wycombe hit back to reduce the deficit to 6-2 with a brace of quickfire strikes.

Jones completed his hat-trick and although Wycombe again hit back, further efforts from Aaron Grant and a Carnell double ensured a convincing victory.
