Vale of White Horse Under 15s retained the Hobbs Cup after staving off a brave Oxford fightback for a 2-1 victory in the final at Milton United.

Billy Cooper put Vale ahead from close range just before half-time following an Alex Smith corner.

And they doubled their lead almost immediately when a Conor Harris shot deflected into the net off a defender.

Two great saves by keeper Zaki Oualah prevented Oxford from scoring, before Mhnenald Remalano reduced the deficit with 15 minutes left.

Oxford laid siege to the Vale goal, but numerous last-ditch tackles prevented an equaliser.

Jacob Hughes finished well to give Mid Oxon a fifth-minute lead.

With Connor Robbins outstanding in midfield, the visitors started to dictate play after the break, and they scored a second through Liam Botcherby.

Ryan Heap added a superb third goal shortly before the end, and now Mid Oxon top the league with one game left.
